Red Carpet Alert!: Lots of Leg

Love long dresses but want to show some skin? Follow in the trend that has been seen all over the red carpet. This look favored by stars like Angelina Jolie and Taylor Swift. They seem like such opposites but they both look amazing in thigh high slits.

Angelina Jolie in Versace [left] and Carrie Underwood in Georges Chakra [right].

The is nothing better than a sexy woman in a white Versace number. Jolie proves that statement. With her 60's inspired hair and all white ensemble she looks like a show stopper as she promotes her new movie, The Tourist. Underwood pairs her stunning red lace gown with simple gold sandal pumps and clutch. The sparkly red band cinches he waist and adds a little punch to her delicate garmet.

Kate Beckinsale in Balmain [left] and Gwyneth Paltrow in Atelier Versace [right].

Beckinsale chose a black sequined dress and accessorized with simple black pumps and a studded belt. She chose to throw her hair into a simple hair with simple curls left down to frame her face. Paltrow looks stunning in her pink, white, and grey gown. For such a high profile event, Paltrow let her long blonde hair down and pulled to one side.

Taylor Swift in Monique Lhuillier [left] and Victoria Beckham in her own design [right].

This is Taylor Swift's year. Her style and status as a musician has blossomed. She looks stunning this red number. With an messy upswept bun and dangly earrings, Taylor completes her look. Beckham looks amazing in a design of her own. Beckham has garnered acclaim for her designing skills and even though the Spice Girls are no more, Victoria is as posh as ever.

Blake Lively: Runway in Real Life

Blake Lively is a fashion icon. And not just because she plays Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. She has become the darling of brands like Lanvin, Chanel, Elie Saab. Almost anyone who has influence in the fashion industry wants Blake to wear their clothing. Now is a chance to examine how Blake rocks looks right off the runway.

From Lanvin's Spring 2011 show [left] and Blake Lively in Lanvin [right].

Blake wears this Lanvin look almost exactly as it was seen on the runway. Same shoes. Same leash with bug broach. Her tied back in a bun with only bangles for jewelry. The only difference being that Blake went for a monochromatic outfit while the opener for Lanvin's Spring show wore a camel top. Both women look utterly fabulous.

Donatella Versace added lots and lots of fringe for her Spring show. And a look that is so fashion is really hard to pull of in the main-stream media. But Blake manages to look effortless with a few slight changes to the runway styling. She opted for black shoes instead of nude and long dangling earrings to mimic the shape of the dramatic fringe in the front.

From Marchesa's Fall 2010 Show [left] and Blake Lively in Elie Saab [right].

This beautifully sequined gown from Elie Saab is stunning. The cutouts add interest, show a little skin, but are far from vulgar. Blake wears blocky black heels rather than the strappy ones seen on the runway and she leaves a few wisps of hair to frame her face. Add bold black nails and million watt smile and Blake looks ready for anything.

December is finally here! It's the most wonderful time of the year! I hope you all are having an amazing year so far. And I'll talk to you guys soon! Bye. :)

The Month of January

I know. It's still fall but recently at the Grammy's January Jones was given a lot of slack for wearing an Armani Prive blue gown. To be honest it was avante guard and a tad bit fashion-forward for such a main stream event like the Grammy's but I commend January for her bold spirit. :)

Anyway, January's style is so simple and effortless that I was inspired to blog about her. She's on the hit AMC show, Mad Men and she is said to appear in the fourth installment of the X-Men movies, X-Men: First Class.

First, January has excellent street style. It's classic, simple, and put together. She's a risk-taker and I applaud her. [i think i already said that but whatever] That bold red oxford shoe is stunning. They makes a statement and makes sense when paired with her subtle, laid-back outfit.

January takes a more city-chic approach but its still laid-back and comfortable. The blue scarf is another pop of color. Blonde, blue-eyed, pale women tend to look marvelous in blue--especially bold electric blue. Her tattered pants and tough, military-inspired jacket bring an edge and toughness that I really respond to.

Finally, January's red carpet style is impecable! She looks classic in a Atelier Versace white mini-dress at Mad Men's premiere in NYC. The dresses' unique cut makes her arms look long and lean. And I love the subtle flapper-inspired details. A white moment will stand the test of time. Just remember Marilyn Monroe's  famous white moment.

Not only can January pull of a dress to perfection, but she looks amazing in a pant as well. Those high-waisted Louis Vuitton pants and floral top are the perfection combonation. The proportions are marvelous and January manages to bring life and light when these somber colors could have easily looked depressing. This look has got be my favorite hands down. It's just...stunning.

Although I love this woman's style I've never actually seen Mad Men. I never know what time it comes on. I should be back soon. :) And then I'll try to post as often as I can. School is starting to get intense but blogging is one of my priorities. I promise.

Mi piace la moda

Versace. When I hear word I think sexy, Italian sexy. And this year Donatella did not disappoint. The hems might have been longer than usual but a girl does not have to wear a non-existant mini-skirt to be sexy. Donatella knows that.

The cut-outs give a flash of skin plus give a simple blue mini-dress interest and originality. It does the same for a simple black tank. These are looks made for a confident, sexy woman made by a confident, sexy woman.

White. The color of snow. The color of polar bears. And the hardest color to keep clean. But any woman who can afford Versace can certainly afford a top grade cleaner. :) Sigh. This year Donatella stuck to basics, well when it came to colors.

Yellow. White. Red. Black. Aquamarine. And, well of course, nude.

And while Donatella decided to keep the colors basic. The execution was anything but. She mixed all the colors of the collection into two different prints. Which was genius, by the way. Can't get enough of that striped print. :) Adorable!

Asymmetrical necklines flatter almost any woman. They're a staple in almost every Versace collection. Nudes also look great on most women. Nude clothes tend to slim and nude shoes make your legs appear longer. Speaking of shoes, those Versace cut-out shoes are stunning. They mimic the cut-outs in their clothes and they're so amazing. I want them! :)

Oh, Italian fashion. I love you. :) Disclaimer: I got the title from Google Translator so I hope that it makes sense. I don't actually speak Italian so I'm taking Google's word for it.
