Make Up - How to use rouge (blush)

Rouge (cosmetics)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blush

Rouge (pronounced /ˈruːʒ/; French: Red), also called blush, is a cosmetic typically used by women to redden the cheeks so as to provide a more youthful appearance, and to emphasise the cheekbones.
Historically, rouge was used as early as in ancient Egypt. It was also applied on the lips, the way lipstick would be used today. In some times and places, both men and women wore rouge, such as during the Regency period in England. In Britain's Victorian Age, when wearing makeup was associated with low morals, ladies resorted to pinching their cheeks (and biting their lips) to make them appear red instead.
Various substances have been used as rouge. In ancient Greece for example, crushed mulberries were favoured, while red beet juice and crushed strawberries have also variously been used.
In modern times, rouge generally consists of a red-coloured talcum-based powder that is applied with a brush to the cheek. The colouring is usually either the substance of safflor (the petals of safflower), or a solution of carmine in ammonium hydroxide and rosewater perfumed with rose oil. A cream-based variant of rouge is schnouda, a colourless mixture of Alloxan with cold cream, which also colours the skin red.

Using Rouge

Rouge is applied after the use of foundation cream. Most women lack the art of applying rouge effectively; they either apply it in excess or too less.
An excessive coating of rouge ruins natural beauty. Choice of wrong shades or mistake in using it properly makes a woman look ugly. Do not use rouge on the whole face including the temples and around the eyes.
The aim of applying rouge is to bring a glow to lusterless cheeks and make them attractive and natural. So, rouge should be so used as to heighten the natural lustre and not to display it by exaggerated use.
Rouge is available in three forms - liquid, cream and cake. Liquid and cream rouge is used after putting on foundation and before the use of powder. Whereas cake rouge is used after the application of powder.
The rouge should be of the same tinge as your skin. Fair skin needs lighter tinge whereas dark skin requires deep colors.
The purpose of applying rouge is to heighten the flush (red or pink glow) of the skin, so it should be applied only on those parts of the face which are naturally flushed.
Apply rouge on the cheek-bones, just below the eyes and towards the end of the eyes. Spread it with your fingers after applying it with a brush.
Do not apply rouge near the nose which otherwise would appear short and broad, nor near the eyes. If the rouge is spread below the cheeks, it gives an oldish look. The rouge applied on the chin gives an oval shape to the face.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Oil-free moisturizer Facial tissue Makeup primer Foundation Makeup wedge Camouflaging concealer Translucent or finishing powder Blush Mid-size fluffy blush brush (optional)

    • 1
Apply oil-free moisturizer on clean skin, blending from the center of your face outwards. This will soften your skin and create a smooth surface for your makeup. After about five minutes, press a facial tissue all over your face to lift away excess product. Squirt a pinch of makeup primer on your palm and dot this all over your face, blending thoroughly into your skin for long-lasting wear for both your foundation and rouge.
    • 2
Smooth your foundation on as usual. Make sure it is the most suitable texture for your skin type, as foundation serves as a base for the rest of your makeup; your rouge will disappear after only a few hours if you are wearing the incorrect foundation formula. Dry skin looks best with liquid foundations, while oily skin is best suited to creme or powder. With a makeup wedge, buff away the demarcation lines in your foundation for a natural look.
    • 3
Dot a concealer with a dry consistency on any blemishes. Blemishes on your cheeks especially need to be camouflaged, as they will appear distractingly unattractive with rouge over them. Blend the edges of your concealer application into your skin using a clean finger. The concealer should be the same color as your foundation, as you will be calling unwanted attention to your imperfections if you use a concealer that is too light or too dark. Dust a translucent or finishing powder over your face, if you have no blemishes to conceal. If you've applied concealer, you need to stipple the translucent or finishing powder onto your skin with the makeup wedge to avoid stroking away any previously applied product.
    • 4
Find the rouge that best suits you, based on your skin's undertones. Pick a peachy or golden-toned rouge if your skin has warm undertones; choose a pinkish or silvery rouge on the other hand if your skin has cool undertones. The texture of your rouge is also important, as it has to complement the consistency of the products already on your cheeks if you want to avoid creases. Creme or gel rouge works with creme and liquid foundation. Stick with a powder formula if you used a powder foundation or considerably concealed and powdered over your cheeks.
    • 5
Smile to find the apples of your cheeks. If you have smooth skin and are using creme or gel rouge, feel free to dot the rouge on this area and blend away any excess product or hard lines in your application. If you are using powder rouge, sweep it on with a mid-size fluffy blush brush only if you don't have concealer on your cheeks. Otherwise, dip the makeup wedge into small amounts of rouge at a time, stippling the product onto the apples of your cheeks carefully. Press the clean side of the makeup wedge onto areas where you feel you may have put too much color. If this does not work, dip the makeup wedge into translucent powder first before pressing it onto the harsh lines you want to soften.

Bullet The Blue Sky

u2

In the howlin' wind
Comes a stingin' rain
See it drivin' nails
Into the souls on the tree of pain.
From the firefly
A red orange glow
See the face of fear
Runnin' scared in the valley below.
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue
Bullet the blue.
In the locust wind
Comes a rattle and hum.
Jacob wrestled the angel
And the angel was overcome.
You plant a demon seed
You raise a flower of fire.
We see them burnin' crosses
See the flames, higher and higher.
Woh, woh, bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue
Bullet the blue.
Suit and tie comes up to me
His face red like a rose on a thorn bush
Like all the colours of a royal flush
And he's peelin' off those dollar bills
(Slappin' 'em down)
One hundred, two hundred.
And I can see those fighter planes
And I can see those fighter planes
Across the tin huts as children sleep
Through the alleys of a quiet city street.
Up the staircase to the first floor
We turn the key and slowly unlock the door
As a man breathes into his saxophone
And through the walls you hear the city groan.
Outside, is America
Outside, is America
America.
See across the field
See the sky ripped open
See the rain comin' through the gapin' wound
Howlin' the women and children
Who run into the arms
Of America.
